History of Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church

Holly Creek First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church was organized June 16, 1889 in a log house on the banks of Holly Creek in Northwest Howard County, Dierks, Arkansas. The charter members included: J .I. Bryant, E. Bryant, Parthena Stinson, J .E. Bean, M.A. Willingham, Ann Cook and S.E. Gammill. The presbytery included Elders T.H. Westbrook and T.I. Lumpkin, with deacons I.H. Rivers as clerk and P.R. Littlefield, moderator protem. P.S.J.E. Beane was chosen clerk at the organization and Elder T.H. Westbrook was called as the church's first pastor.

At some later date, Holly Creek Church moved into a building which is now the old Dierks High School. That building was sold to the school in the late 1940's and later burned. Holly Creek was moved into the rock building on Highway 70 while Grady Higgs was pastor. The fellowship hall was added during the ministry of Luther Oglesby and the auditorium was remodeled and enlarged. On December 15, 1996, Holly Creek moved into their fourth auditorium, which was just to the north of the rock building and tied together by a connecting office wing. Total construction costs were almost $550,000, with about half being financed through Diamond State Bank.

Current active membership is over 300, with an average of just under 200 in Sunday School.
